From the Vineyard- "Winter rains continued well into the spring pushing back budbreak and delaying fruit set. What started late, continued slow with cooler than normal temperatures and greater cloud cover through veraison. With threats of a late season and mildew pressure high, thinning and canopy management to promote airflow was an ongoing activity during much of the growing season. Veraison finished mid-August and with it a return to normal temperatures. Ripening progressed well and harvest began on October 14 just ahead of fall rains. The crop was light and maturity was even." - Mike Wolf, Vineyard Manager
From the Winemaker- "The 2010 Perseid is a deeply colored garnet hue with typical violet edge. Ripe blackberry aromas meld with complex layers of licorice, sweet tobacco, coffee beans and green olives. The flavors on the palate replicate the aromas with a refined texture and plush tannins providing a firm structural backbone. The long lingering finish is round and silky with ripe tannins. " - Dawnine Dyer, Winemaker and Partner
From the Sommelier- "The long cool growing season in 2010 produced wines of incredible depth and structure. Some winemakers in the valley expressed tremendous frustration in the beginning of August as cloud cover continued to slow the pace of ripening. Others, Meteor Vineyard included, reveled in the opportunity for slow flavor development and robust structure. These wines will benefit from time in the cellar." - Jason Alexander, Sommelier
From the Critics- “Lovely aromatic nose features blackberry lifted by violet and spices. Darker than the 2009 version and more muscular too, offering an impressive combination of power and finesse. Very ripe black fruit flavors are perked up by juicy acidity. Finishes with terrific grip and lingering sweetness.” _- Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
“A little bit darker than the 2009, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Perseid shares that wine's total silkiness and textural polish. Blackberries, menthol, licorice and sweet spices are all layered into the saline-infused finish_there is plenty of underlying structure, not to mention beauty, in the glass. Anticipated maturity 2015-2025.” - _Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate
